About the Ride

Date: Sunday 8th September 2019
Location: Milton Keynes Equestrian Centre
Times: First rider/group at 9:00am and Last rider/group at 12:30pm
Cost: £20 entry / Raise over £20 in sponsorship and get your entry fee back!

The ride covers a choice of 9 or 12 miles across scenic countryside, farmland and bridleways, starting and finishing at Milton Keynes Equestrian Centre. There is a small amount of road work including a motorway bridge crossing. There will be marshals sited here to aid and support in the safe crossing of all horses and riders. The course is well marked with directional arrows.

As part of the ride Milton Keynes Equestrian Centre are kindly opening up the cross-country course to all riders at the end of the course. This is entirely optional

The first rider/group will leave at 9:00am and the last rider/group will leave at 1:00pm

There is limited overnight stabling available by separate demand. Please contact us if you wish to book stabling for your horse(es)

The Cross-Country Course

The entirely optional cross-country course consists of over 100 fences and includes two water jumps and natural hedges

All of the jumps/fences are built to BE standard. The use of frangible pins in post and rails ensure the jumps are built in line with the latest safety principles.

Riders are offered five colour coded height ranges as follows:

  1. 30 jumps x 65 cm
  2. 30 jumps x 80 cm
  3. 35 jumps x 90 cm
  4. 40 jumps x 100 cm
  5. 40 jumps x 110 cm

There is a separate enclosed mini course available with inviting fences ranging from 12 inches to 60 cm for nervous riders/green horses.

There will be safety Marshals sited around the cross-country course who can provide assistance if required. All Marshals will have radio communication with the base station.

2019 Theme

2019 marks the first of the annual sponsored ride in aid of UK Emergency Support Services, who support front-line Emergency Services and Communities. The theme for 2019 will be, Green, Blue, & Red the colours that represents the three main Emergency Services;

Green for Ambulance, Blue for Police & Red for Fire

By tailoring Horse and Rider fancy dress in these colours you will be showing your support for the wider Emergency Services family and celebrating all that they do.

There are prizes for best turned out/fancy dressed Junior Horse & rider (under 18 years) and best turned out/fancy dressed Senior Horse & Rider (over 18 years old)

Rider Recognition and Sponsorship Awards

All riders completing the course will receive a rosette

An additional rosette PLUS a prize will be awarded to riders for the following categories:

  1. Junior most sponsorship raised – 1st, 2nd and 3rd place
  2. Senior most sponsorship raised – 1st, 2nd and 3rd place
  3. Junior best turned out/fancy dressed Horse and Rider
  4. Senior best turned out/fancy dressed Horse and Rider

*Junior is any rider under 18 years old on date of ride and Senior is any rider 18 or over on date of ride

Winners in all categories will be photographed and used in publicity for the 2020 ride.
